The First Age

Timespan: ~BH-1 AH

Different cultures, different religions, and of course different races have many and varied stories about how the world of Roshanri began. One of the most famous is the Creation Myth which comes directly from a passage of the Codex of Verlisae, a common and popular religion practiced by many races and cultures. The truth behind the creation of the world, however, may never be known. The exact age of the world is unknown, and what little evidence can be found is inconclusive and results are conflicting between researchers as to exact dates before the existence of a written history. Ancient ruins have been found all across Roshanri which seem to predate most, if not all, human artifacts discovered and recorded. The deeper into the Rosh'na territories the greater the number of these ruins and findings can be found. This time period has been labeled the time Before Humans, as there are next to no traces of human like civilizations existing during this span of time.

This time period is most understood by the Rosh'na, and their respective Vardica. This is the age in which the Rosh'na came into being, established their lands and cultures, and their various and unique histories got their start. This is a time in which no records of written or recorded history can be found, and what is known is considered the realm of myth and legend passed down by word of mouth between the various Rosh'na cultures. To the human races, and some of the other younger races, this period of time is vast and unknowable, but to some of the older and more well established Rosh'na races there are many stories which are said to arise from this era ruled by the Vardica which teaches many valuable lessons and are important to their cultural histories.

Human Age

Timespan: 1 AH-3,400 AH

This span of time is known as the human age, and the dates are labeled AH (After Humans) as it appears that before this time human culture and civilization did not exist. It almost appears as if Humans simply showed up suddenly, and from that point in history their civilizations developed at an exponential rate which cannot be explained by modern historians. There are many ruins which are believed to be human in origin, as well as unusual writings, devices and artifacts which are unpronounceable even with current human Magitech.

1 AH-255 AH

This span of time is considered forgotten knowledge, and no one save for the oldest and longest lived races and the Vardica know of the details of the history during this span of time. Current cultures and races, even historians, only have knowledge of the humans sudden arrival and sudden expansion. Then it seems as if the human territory expansion merely stops, with no indication as to how or why. From this period of time many myths and legends have arisen which are now pervasive in both Human and Rosh'na cultures.

260 AH-2,000 AH

This span of time is considered a settling and growth period for both Rosh'na and Human civilizations. The territorial wars had ended, and both sides began to adapt to the new arrangement of territorial lines establishing now long forgotten kingdoms and dynasties which are what make up the ruins found throughout Roshanri in present times. It was a time of growth of civilization, and a sharing of knowledge in a way between two sides that had once been at war. Human influence began to show in Rosh'na territories as when before the Rosh'na lived as close to the land as possible, now they began to create their own cities, settlements and villages in ways that were similar to humans. Written language began to become normal not only for humans but for several of the Rosh'na, and not all histories and stories had to be memorized and told by word of mouth from generation to generation. Much of the languages and written word from this time are in a forgotten tongue, but those who study history and archaeology have the potential to rediscover and learn these lost languages and learn long buried secrets of a now ancient civilization.

2,000 AH-2,166 AH

This is one of the few eras of ancient history for which ancient documents still remain and have been studied by modern historians. During this time period it seems that some form of disease, or plague, began to rapidly spread among the human. While the details of this disease are unknown, it seemed to only affect humans especially those with powerful magics and many well known and famous historical figures during this time known as The Crippling died because of this disease. The last known account on recorded was in the year 2,166, after which time fewer and fewer recordings can be found and history begins to fade and become even more fragmented.

2,249 AH-3,000 AH

Recorded ancient history and documents, especially those of human origin, quickly grow more and more scares up until the year 2,249. This is the last actually recorded date found on the last document of this era. This document has come to be known as Gretchen's Last Mention as it is what appears to be a medical document talking about the spread of the disease and its effects on children. Currently the document is held closely guarded by the Dhastreich in their city Draklien, and is not available for further study. After this time period it is as if history simply stops. Both Rosh'na and Human civilizations have no record of what happens during this span of nearly 800 years, and as such it has been dubbed the Forgotten Era.

3000 AH-3400 AH

After the Forgotten Era historical records suddenly begin again, seemingly without warning. The human civilizations are in complete ruin, much of their territory has been rocked and destroyed, ancient writings and artifacts buried and most if not all of their knowledge gone as if it were never there. This span of 400 years is considered the most well understood and current history of the world of Roshanri, and both Human and Rosh'na civilizations have at least some accounting of their culture and races history during this time. This is the time period during which the clans established their own individual cultural identities, erected their new cities and began to rebuild their suddenly dwindled population. Humans established the Coalition of Races early on in this process in order to facilitate the growth and protection of their species during the rebuilding process which would later provide the foundation for further trade between all races and the establishment of the shared trade city of Hanzah
