Vardica

The Vardica of Roshanri are ancient, powerful beings who have earned a place in the histories and cultures of many of the worlds inhabitants. The gods are all distant, far off figures who give little care or concern for the mortal races. The Vardica, however, are a touch of divinity which is almost within the realm of understanding of the lesser races. The origins of the Vardica are different depending on which race, culture or religion they are mentioned in, but the most widely accepted explanation comes from the Codex of Verlisae:

"Vardic, the molder of substance, descended upon the unrefined world and took from it many materials. He crafted these elements into shapes, adding in a piece of himself each time and then called upon his sister Lya. Upon each Lya descended and breathed life into them, making their hearts beat and their flesh move for the first time. These first creations of the god Vardic he deemed Vardica, his own decedents and helpers who would spread a variety of life across the empty world."

Every Vardica possesses a deep connection with The Source, especially while within their territories. This gives them great power, strength, intelligence and wisdom. Each is unique in his or her appearance and personality, and from them came the many different Rosh'na which now fill the world. Many of their races hold them as the true gods of Roshanri, and those who came later at times took the Vardica and created new religions around them. Now the Vardica are a thing of Myth and Legend, aloof and distant even to their own creations. Those outside of the Rosh'na even question if they actually exist. It is considered a rare honor to meet a Vardica in person, and these encounters can sometimes be too fantastic to believe.
